Recognizing our students who exemplify
our Student Learning Expectations

Assumption Parish Catholic School’s Student Learning Expectations, in conjunction with our mission and philosophy, are the foundation in the formation of our students as disciples of Christ.  This formation is accomplished through prayer, service to the community, and the pursuit of academic excellence. 

We recognize our students quarterly with the HAWK AWARD given to students who exemplify what it means to be an Assumption Hawk.  The acronym LOVE, stands for Love God, Others First, Value Self as a Child of God, and Excel in Academics. 

Students at Assumption School are expected to grow
and learn according to the following expectations:

Love God

1. Demonstrates knowledge of scripture, church history, teachings, and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church
2. Participates in the sacramental life of the Church and its liturgival traditions
3. Engages in a variety of prayer experience

Others First

1. Exercise Christian responsibility regarding social justice issues through service and stewardship practices
2. Demonstrates awareness of current events and world affairs in the light of Catholic faith
3. Demonstrates respect for all

Value Self As a Child of God

1. Recognizes personal strengths and areas for improvement
2. Sets goals, persists in tasks, and evaluates progress
3. Is responsible and accountable for choices
4. Integrates problem solving skills into daily life
5. Practices and maintains a healthy lifestyle

Excels in Academics

1. Develops skills for self-directed learning
2. Masters basic learning skills as defined in the Diocesan and State standards
3. Develops effective communicaton skills
4. Develops skills in creative arts
5. Applies critical thinking skills
6. Uses technology in learning, communication, and presentation
