Each according to specified roles, the pastor and principal are responsible for overseeing the Catholic school ministry of the parish. A School Advisory Council, comprised of school parents, advises them in the formulation of school policy and planning. The Council meets on a regular basis. The minutes of its proceedings are available at the School Office. Members of the public may attend the regular meetings of the council. Participation in the meeting, however, is not permitted unless prior arrangement has been made with the principal or pastor in sufficient time for inclusion on the agenda. (Policy #1120) In order to be considered for inclusion on the council’s agenda, a concern or issue must be communicated as clearly and as factually as possible to the principal or pastor in writing. The principal or pastor will determine the manner in which an issue or concern so expressed will be addressed by the Council within its scope of responsibility.
In addition to the development of school policy statements for the pastor’s approval, the School Advisory Council also is responsible for the development of plans, which give direction and unified context for Assumption Parish School. The major plans are: Long-Range Plan, Development Plan, Finance Plan and Facilities Use Plan.
